I like that idea.

Mrs Jones

I completely agree. And it's easy.

6th plays away at 5th.

Winner plays away at 4th.

Winner plays 3rd in final.

It would retain the pros of the play offs keeping the season alive for many more clubs whilst giving advantage to teams that finish higher.

3rd place in Championship goes straight to final...don't know how it would work but I have a soft spot for Luton

When someone fakes a head injury, compel their substitution.

You can't be too careful...

Agree with most suggestions.

I'd add that if a player has to go off for treatment after a foul, the fouler should also go off until the fouled player is ready to return, or replaced.

Seems ridiculous that presently, the wronged team sometimes has to play with 10 men for a few minutes.

Also, subs have 15 seconds to get of the pitch or they're booked.

In each half, each side should be able to choose two gladiator style weapons and one leopard that can be released for ten minutes.

Handball stopping a shot on target = penalty goal
Countdown clock in injury time, which stops when ball is out of play, no substitutions allowed.
The teams finishing third and fourth get home advantage in the semi finals of the playoffs in a one off tie. The team finishing highest gets home advantage in the final.

Agree that the offside law should be changed to if any part of your body is 'onside' then the goal stands. The lines would still have to be drawn but it would mean more goals are scored, and isn't that the whole point of the game?

Fifth Column 1:27 Thu May 11
Re: What changes to the laws of the game would you like to see?
Offside - if 90% of your body is level then you should be considered onside. People having their big toe ruled offside is ridiculous.

Re: What changes to the laws of the game would you like to see?
First two that spring to mind are clarifying the rules for offside and handball in the penalty box.

If someone is offside then the flag goes up, none of is wait till we see what happens shite.

And handball, we all know that one.

Agree that timewasting is such a con to the opposition but also any neutrals watching the games, ten minutes disappears in no time when certain teams are at it.

So many times an Arsenal or Man Utd player seem to take the longest stroll ever towards the dugout and high fiving all their wank teammates on the way and get off with it.. The refs don't realise its their weak ass ignoring of this that they're taking the piss out of.

Re: What changes to the laws of the game would you like to see?
The second a free kick is given the team taking it should be able to take as soon as they like. Just because a free kick is given somewhere around the penalty box should not mean the offending side should be allowed to take ages erecting a wall. It's boring and massively time consuming.

And get rid of VAR.

If the ref thinks the ball is going into the goal and a defender handles the ball deliberately, he should award a goal rather then a penalty. Like the LBW rule in cricket.

The team who have just conceded a goal should be allowed to kick off as soon as they are ready rather than waiting 5 minutes while the other team celebrate.

Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham to be put into liquidation

Re: What changes to the laws of the game would you like to see?
Straight Yellow for grabbing the ball when a player thinks they have been fouled and ended up on the deck. As exampled against Man U the other day. Stopped us from continuing with the play with the 'non-fouled' player out of the game. Given the little shit had already been carded, that should have been a 2nd Yellow/Red.

Retrospective yellow cards for diving (if missed by the ref in-play) is a given. But needs to be one consistent rule applied across all players and all teams. (we know it wouldn't be.)

Ball must be touching the quadrant at a corner.

The throw-in is to be taken at the place where the ball went out of play, not 10-15 yards up the pitch!

The Keeper is Not Deemed to have been fouled just because an opposition player has brushed against them in the box.

Dangling a trailing leg to induce contact in the box leading to a penalty is to be a yellow card offence, is called by a post-match review.

Hello Mrs. Jones 4:24 Wed May 10
Re: What changes to the laws of the game would you like to see?
Yellow and red cards given after the game upon review of incidents, particularly diving. If a player goes down screaming in the box and no penalty is awarded then it has to be a yellow card for simulation.

Also, get rid of penalties to decide games. After 90 minutes reduce each team by two players, then an additional player each side every 5 minutes after that until a goal is scored.

Yes! So quick and simple to tidy these things up. Or as an extreme case in a Villa Sheff U game (I think) 1-2 seasons ago where the ball blatantly went over the line, but the ref's watch malfunctioned and they wouldn't give the goal despite there being clear evidence it was one, because it wasn't in VAR's juresdiction, or they has to assume the malfunctioning watch was actually not malfunctioning, or something like that.

As Villa stayed up by one point that season, it was massive because if it rightly stood they'd have gone down instead of Bournemouth. Shameful to let that stand with all the tools at our disposal to have rectified it at the time.

Totally! All this 'he's earned the right to go down' bullshit or 'that's a good tactical foul'. It really needs to be called out rather than endorsed. Doesn't help that it's subjective as well. The likes of Carragher and McManaman are so biased they'll more or less celebrate or gloat if Liverpool get away with one and be upset if it happens to them. This sort of subjectivity needs to be removed from the game. Cheating is cheating or a foul is a foul irrespective of the shirt the player doing it is wearing. I remember Yarmo getting anger and ridicule from commentators and pundits for feigning injury or diving last year, in a televised game but it's nothing that doesn't happen weekly and the precious players like Kane, Salah et all never get called out on it.

Actually I'd also mandate (not a law of the game but a broadcast rule) that an ex player or someone with an obvious connection to a team playing in a match cannot commentate on it. It was ridiculous listening to McManaman's bias the other week, particularly with the late handball. A blatant foul one way is 'Nah, not enough in that for me.' but the other way 'That's a horrendous challenge.' Total bullshit.

Re: What changes to the laws of the game would you like to see?
Throw ins - how many time times you see a foot off the ground and never penalised.
Offside - should be simplified, current law at times can endanger players
Handball - needs more clarity

Crowding the referee he should either A. Issue a yellow card to all the players taht crowd and or retrospective bans from video evidence - clubs fined for not controlling their players.
